Uppingham School, Rutland is today celebrating another excellent set of A levels by its pupils, with 347 results - over 55 per cent - either A* or A grades.

For the first time ever at the School, two pupils – Patrick Sun and Andrew Turner – gained five A* grades.

Twenty eight per cent of the Upper Sixth (56 out of 198) gained straight A*A grades. Seven pupils gained 3A*s or better and of those five gained straight A*s.  In addition to a 100 per cent pass rate, 85% of all entries were A*-B.

Richard Harman, Headmaster, said, "It is very pleasing to report on the achievements of this year's group of pupils taking their A levels.  They have worked exceptionally hard and these results are a fitting reward for their efforts and those of the staff.

"During their years here, pupils at Uppingham benefit not only from the opportunities to attain academic excellence but also from an array of extra-curricular activities, embracing the benefits of an 'all-round education'. I wish them all the best as they leave us equipped for the challenges ahead."
