Alan Duncan, MP for Rutland & Melton, has today reacted to Rutland County Council's decision to seek an injunction against members of the 'Rutland Anti-Corruption Group' to prevent harassment of the Chief Executive and other officers.

Alan said:

'The Council has been forced to take this entirely proportionate action in response to the disgraceful conduct of these three councillors. Their campaign of harassment went far beyond legitimate and open scrutiny of the Council. Instead, they have brought shame on the office of councillor. The Chief Executive and other officers have my unequivocal support and confidence. Healthy debate and questioning is a vital part of local democracy but that cannot extend to subjecting officials to relentless abuse. I hope that they will conduct themselves with greater respect and integrity following the Council's decision.'
